All of our colorful labels are adaptations of Patti's paintings.
In 2005 we went to study olive farming and oil making in the Italian region of Umbria. As we harvested olives at an 800-year-old orchard near the small town of Tavernelle we experienced the Italian family tradition of olive oil. On our Ascolano olive oil label is Patti's painting of a 75-year-old gentleman that has worked on the annual harvest most of his life. Although retired he comes to the orchard each year and climbs the ancient trees to pick all day and is paid with enough oil for his family for the coming year. Patti's painting was created from her photograph taken as he enjoyed his lunch break on a typical fall harvest day.
The painting has been exhibited in The 54th Haggin Juried Exhibition in the summer of 2006. Currently it hangs in our dining room providing ambiance for all our dinner guests. The traditional dark balsamic vinegar label comes from Patti's painting of the Tavernelle estate we worked at during that stay.
Her new sunflower paintings grace our new line of balsamic vinegars.
